What are the precautions for the installation of aluminum-plastic panels

(1) Rivet connection

Aluminum-plastic panels can be connected between plates or between plates and other materials using rivets suitable for aluminum. For outdoor or high humidity applications, stainless steel core core rivets should be used to avoid rust affecting the aluminum-plastic panel surface, if the iron core rivets are used, the iron core must be withdrawn after riveting connection. Countersunk rivets can only be used for indoor applications.

(2) With threaded fixing

There are two types: external use and indoor use

a. Fixing parts for outdoor use

When using threaded fixing parts outdoors, it is necessary to consider the thermal expansion coefficient of aluminum-plastic panels, in order to avoid extrusion deformation of aluminum-plastic panels due to thermal deformation, the opening above the aluminum-plastic panel needs to be larger than the diameter of the screw in order to meet the requirements of expansion and expansion.

The use of stainless steel screw patterns with sealing gaskets to avoid extrusion of aluminum-plastic panels has been proven to function. To choose a screw suitable for the structural material, a torque wrench or screwdriver should be used to tighten the screw to ensure that the washer effectively seals the hole but does not leave marks on the surface of the aluminum plate too tightly.

Sometimes it is necessary to drill holes in aluminum plates or bottom structures using deformation drills or casings to achieve centering drilling and rivet construction. It is important to make sure to remove the protective film before fixing the screws.

b. Indoor fixtures

Connections for indoor applications can be secured using steel or wood plates with different head shapes. These screws usually do not allow the aluminum-plastic panel to have thermal expansion displacement.

Countersunk screws can be used to fix aluminum-plastic plates, you can use the usual countersunk hole method or directly press the aluminum panel into the plate, this way the hole on the aluminum plate is larger than the screw rod diameter.

(3) Plastic welding (only for PE core materials)

The use of hot air for welding between plastics can be applied to the connection between aluminum-plastic plates, the use of electric heating welding torch with heated air to melt aluminum plate polyethylene core layer and polyethylene plastic electrode after cooling connection, the following are the conditions for obtaining good welding quality:

a. Well-prepared board edge interface;

b. Clean hot air;

c. Correct welding temperature;

d. Correct contact pressure;

e. Welding speed.

(4) Bonding

Bonding uses metal adhesives/general purpose adhesives. Used for indoor advertising boards, booth layout. Commonly used metals or common adhesives are suitable for bonding on composite boards. Double-sided tape is suitable for connections where strength is not critical. For applications where high-strength bonding is required, we recommend the one-component adhesive, SIKA-BOND. It should be noted that when used outdoors, the adhesive has a moderate ability to withstand static strength.

When aluminum-plastic panels are bonded to other materials, bonding failures may occur due to different coefficients of thermal expansion of the materials.

(5) Snap connector connection

It is usually also possible to use a combination fixture to fix and connect the aluminum-plastic panel, and the fixture can appear to be made of aluminum or plastic material, generally consisting of two parts and connected by screws.
